A while back, ABC wanted into Hulu. Over the past few months, they been slowly adding content to Hulu. What about Netflix? Well, ABC and Netflix also doing something together for Netflix subscribers, like me. Check out this blog post on the Netflix Blog:

Hi there, it’s Lynn Tran from the Netflix PR team. If you are a LOSTIE, love a little suburban or young-hip doctor drama, or if epic fantasy is your thing, then we have some good news for you! Starting today, the first four seasons of “LOST” and select seasons of “Desperate Housewives” and “Legend of the Seeker” will be available to be streamed instantly on your computer and to your TV via a Netflix ready device. Another Show I Found

August 4, 2009 Leave a comment

Say Californication was on the Instant Netflix so I thought I would watch it. It is great, I just finished season 1. Season 2 is already in my queue.

The series revolves around Hank Moody, a charming but horny writer and novelist plagued with personal demons. He blames his years-long case of writer’s block on a variety of reasons, ranging from the hedonism of Los Angeles, to his on-again, off-again relationship with his girlfriend Karen. Hank constantly deals with the fallout of his lack of will to say "no" to drugs, sex and alcohol, while trying to show his family that he can be a good, caring person.

From Wikipedia, this is what has happened in season 1:

The first season takes place in the months leading up to Karen’s planned marriage to Bill, a Los Angeles publisher. Hank is wallowing deep in self-loathing following the release of A Crazy Little Thing Called Love, what he percieves as a sub-par yet popular movie adaptation to his most recent novel, God Hates Us All. After picking up a younger woman in a bookstore, he finds out she is actually Bill’s 16-year-old daughter, Mia. Hank spends most of his time boozing and not writing. Mia continues to haunt Hank during his visits to his family, using the threat of revealing his statutory rape of her to steal stories for her creative writing class. The death of his father triggers a bender and an eventual sexual encounter with Karen. After the funeral, Hank stays in New York to finish a manuscript for a new novella. However, when Hank returns to LA, the original copy is lost when his car is stolen. But Mia has retained her own copy, and chooses to pass the work off as her own. On Karen and Bill’s wedding day, Hank chooses to accept the way things are. But as he leaves the reception with his daughter Becca, Karen runs out and jumps into the car, riding into a new life together.

Show is sick and funny, another great show that flow under my radar. Check back for more on Californication with season 2.

12 Rounds of Shit Blowing Up

August 2, 2009 Leave a comment

Trying something new. Trying to post on this blog with my iPod touch so it is easier to remeber content.

As the title says, 12 Rounds is my latest movie I watched. Well watching it now. Features John Cena from The Marine and WWE. I like him. Total action dude.SPOILERS, also watched it on BD.

On to the movie. John kills the bad guys girl friend. Guy goes to jail. Breaks outs. Out for revange on John’s girl friend. So far, it has been a good movie. Nothing great but a fun action movie. More to come.

More has come. So far the death toll for this game is up to 2. A guard and John’s friend and police partner. Shit blowing up though. Trains not stopping, transformers getting hit and buildings blowing up. Getting to the final round.

So it was really a game. The bad guy used John to get what he wanted. In the end, there a fight in a helicoptor and blows up with the bad guy.

Scoring; I give it a C. It’s a fun action movie but it is nothing great. Didn’t do so well in the box office.

Netflix to Windows 7 Media Center

August 1, 2009 Leave a comment

If you are like me, a computer nerd, then you would already have Windows 7. Earlier this year, Netflix released its Instant Watch to Vista Media Center. Nothing for Windows 7 Media Center. Till now.

Netflix Watch Instantly coming to Windows 7 Media Center

In what is sure to be just the start of many announcements surrounding Windows 7 in the next few months leading up to the general release, Microsoft demoed Netflix on Windows7 Media Center at the Microsoft Financial Analyst Meeting. No hard release date yet or big surprises here as Vista owners got this access some time ago and Extenders still don’t support Silverlight. The good news though is that the app will be full touch screen capable, so for those with the right hardware you’ll have the same great improvements you have in the rest Windows 7. Media Center fans might also be happy to hear that more features were promissed in regards to "TV on the PC." (Fast forward to 1 hour and 2 minutes in the video via the read link to see the demo)

Cheating Netflix?

July 29, 2009 Leave a comment

I have come up with a way to get the most videos out of Netflix.I do the 3 videos at a time. What I do is rip the DVD for the movie so I can return it the next day and watch the movie anytime. This is great. I have it down too 6 movies a week. Only draw back is with BD. Unless you have a BD reader, then your in luck. This also works with TV DVDs. Rip those episodes. What I use for ripping is WinX DVD  Ripper. I got it free from the Giveaway of the Day. DVD Smith and DVD Shrink are other good ripping tools but you need to encode the file if you want too.

Spaced

July 28, 2009 Leave a comment

Spaced is a British television situation comedy written by and starring Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson, and directed by Edgar Wright. It is noted for its rapid-fire editing, frequent dropping of pop-culture references, and occasional displays of surrealism. Two series of seven episodes each were broadcast in 1999 and 2001 on Channel 4.

It just came to Hulu in the past week and I thought I would give it a try. I had it in my Netflix queue but on Hulu, I can watch it anytime.

Only have watched a few episodes and I love it. So funny. Rare for me to like British shows. Only like a handful and this a new one in that hand. Check out their first episode.

If video doesn’t show, best to click the link.
